Former
Congressman Ronald Dellums’ book, LYING DOWN WITH THE LIONS,
which was published by Beacon Press earlier this month, will be featured
at this book signing. Mr.
Dellums fought hard for African Americans and other disenfranchised
minorities and peace across the globe.
He helped bring an end to Apartheid in South Africa.
He was arrested in conjunction with his battle against this racial
injustice. Today, he promotes
education and prevention to combat the AIDS epidemic in Africa.
He also maintains a close friendship with Nelson Mandela.
“The Color of Friendship”, a Disney movie about his and his
family’s experiences with a white South African exchange student who
lived with him and his family for a while, aired on the Disney Channel
this month. In
LYING
DOWN WITH THE LIONS, he chronicles his years in the House and
offers crucial advice for Americans committed to democratic social change.
He shares stories of his battles over defense policy and health-care
reform and his heart-felt fight to end Apartheid.
Mr.
Dellums
offers a blueprint for empowering Americans to be agents of peace
and justice and ensures his place as one of the most important leaders of
the last half-century. Mr.
Dellums can shed light on any number of political, social and world
issues. Mr.
Dellums will be in New York on February 24 and 25 and is available for
interviews. He will be
speaking about coalition politics, his career in Congress and today’s
challenging issues in world policy, such as the fight against AIDS in
Africa at the Interfaith Center of New York.
His comments will be followed by a book signing and reception. Should you have any questions or want to
schedule an interview, please call Akin & Randolph Agency at (973)
353-8409 or (973) 623-6834 or Wanda
Akin via pager at (888) 870-0765. |
